100% of packaging across P&G Beauty will be recyclable or reusable by 2030 - and 90% by 2025.

P&G is promoting its new Responsible Beauty platform — expanding upon its “Ambition 2030” goals, created in 2018. The Responsible Beauty platform is a systems-thinking approach rooted in the connections and interdependence of five guiding principles: Quality & Performance; Safety; Sustainability; Transparency, and Equality & Inclusion. The P&G Responsible Beauty 2030 Goals aims to openly share technologies, programs and processes that can help the beauty industry have a bigger, positive impact on the world. The photo above is via Instagram/procergamble. The company posted: “It’s time for Responsible Beauty: a new way of thinking to protect the environment and create a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient future. Beauty products today should do more than work well: they must protect the #environment and improve our quality of life.” Aiming for 100% Recyclable or Reusable Packaging by 2030 The company’s sustainable packaging goals state that 100% of its packaging across P&G Beauty will be recyclable or reusable by 2030 — and 90% by 2025. Plus, the use of virgin fossil-based plastic will be reduced by 50% by 2025. P&G has also made public a comprehensive guide for the safe use of botanicals in beauty products. The guide incorporates learnings from over a decade of published research, provides formulators from small to large size beauty brands, with a robust safety approach to assess botanical ingredients and ensure their safe use in products. The team at P&G Beauty, led by CEO Alex Keith, works with the P&G Responsible Beauty Advisory Council, an advisory group created more than a year ago to ensure priorities are well informed by the most innovative, leading-edge thinking and experience. The Council is made up of representatives from Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (a world leading authority on plant science); World Wildlife Fund (WWF); Rainforest Alliance; Skin Health Alliance; and the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials. Keith comments, “The P&G Responsible Beauty Advisory Council helps to ensure we are bringing external insights and experience into our decision-making, and applying systems thinking to our plans to ensure we consider the interdependencies of one choice on other critical areas.” The compay’s website explains more about the Responsible Beauty Platform, stating, “These goals represent our vision to be a positive force for beauty in the world. We have set these goals to help get us closer to achieving that vision, but we don’t have all the answers. Together with our partners, we will evolve and update our goals as we continue to learn.”
